Theme requires following plugins. If you are not installing these plugins you will not enjoy all the features of the theme. So, yes go ahead and download the following plugins.
a. featureme

d. sociable
e. wordpress-23-related-posts-with-excerpt
f. wp125
g. wp-cumulus
h. wp-pagenavi
Download all required plugins from WP_010 Plugins (1484)
We also recommend the following plugins: (optional)
a. google-sitemap-generator
b. maintenance-mode
c. optimize-db
d. platinum-seo-pack
e. wp-ajax-edit-comments
f. wp-db-backup
Download all above plugins from WP_010 Recommanded Plugins (1110)
Download the plugins and upload it to your wp-content/plugins folder and activate all of them via wordpress admin panel. Make sure your old plugins (if you have any) are not conflicting with these plugins.
*** Installing WordPress Themes
1. Access your Web server using an FTP client or Web server administration tools.
2. Copy or upload WP_010 theme folder into the wp-content/themes folder.
4. Login to your WordPress administration panel and select Design -> Themes.
5. In the ‘Available Themes’ section click on your theme title or screenshot, then click the ‘Activate Theme’ link to activate it.

*** Updating Options Page
Please refer the screenshot:
Select Appearance > WP_010 options
Featured Posts Carousel Settings:
a. Select the number of items you wish to show in Featured Posts Carousel section.
b. Disable Featured Posts Carousel section : Check this option if you would like to disable this section
Featured Category Settings:
Posts from Four categories can be featured on homepage. you can select the categories under this section. Also do not forgot to specify the title for featured categories section (this will be reflected in your homepage). Also select how many posts your would like to see under each category on homepage.
a. Select the featured Category 1 from the list
b. Enter Appropriate Featured Category 1 Title
c. Enter Number of items in Featured Category 1
d. Select the featured Category 2 from the list
e. Enter Appropriate Featured Category 2 Title
f. Enter Number of items in Featured Category 2
g. Select the featured Category 3 from the list
h. Enter Appropriate Featured Category 3 Title
i. Enter Number of items in Featured Category 3
j. Select the featured Category 4 from the list
k. Enter Appropriate Featured Category 4 Title
l. Enter Number of items in Featured Category 4
m. Disable Featured Category Block: If you check this option all featured Category sections will be removed from homepage.
Featured Video Settings:
In this section you can specify the embededed video code. The video will be displayed on sidebar. Modify the width to 375 and height to 280.
a. Enter the Featured Video Code (complete embed code not just url or id)
b. Disable Featured Video Widget: Check this box if you would like to DISABLE the featured video widget on sidebar.
468×60 Homepage Banner Ad Settings:
In this section you need to enter your adsense or other ad network code or affiliate ad/banner code. This will be displayed on theme header. (sitewide)
a. Enter the 468×60 Banner Ad
b. Disable 468×60 header Banner Ad: Check this box if you would like to DISABLE the 468×60 header Banner Ad.
468×60 Homepage Banner Ad 2 Settings (under featured posts):
In this section you need to enter your adsense or other ad network code or affiliate ad/banner code. This will be displayed on theme under featured posts (only on home page).
a. Enter the 468×60 Banner Ad
b. Disable 468×60 home page Ad: Check this box if you would like to DISABLE the 468×60 home page Ad (under featured posts).
468×60 innerpage Banner Ad Settings:
You can specify ads (google ad/affiliate ad/banner) on this section. The ad will be displayed on 468×60 innerpages below Title of the each post. (only on innerpages)
a. Enter the 468×60 Banner Ad code
b. Disable 468×60 innerpage Banner Ad: Check this box if you would like to DISABLE the 468×60 innerpage Banner Ad.
300×250 Sidebar Banner Ad Settings:
You can specify ads (google ad/affiliate ad/banner) on this section. The ad will be displayed on 300×250 Right Sidebar. (sitewide)
a. Enter the 300×250 Banner Ad code
Disable 300×250 Sidebar Banner Ad: Check this box if you would like to DISABLE the 300×250 Sidebar Banner Ad.
Popular Posts Settings:
a. Specify how many items you would like to show in popular posts section.
b. Disable Sidebar Popular Posts: Check this box if you would like to DISABLE the Popular Posts section in Sidebar.
Flickr RSS Settings:
You can Enable/Disable flickr RSS widget here. Rest of the settings you can configure on plugins options page.
a. Disable Flickr RSS Widget: Check this box if you would like to DISABLE the Flickr RSS Widget.
125×125 Ads Settings:
You can Enable/Disable 125×125 Ads here. Rest of the settings you can configure on plugins options page.
a. Disable 125×125 Ads: Check this box if you would like to DISABLE the 125×125 Ads.
Feedburner Settings:
a. Enter your Feedburner ID.
b. Disable Feedburner: Check this option if you would like to DISABLE the feedburner. If you disable this option the theme will use default wordpress feed url.
Footer Settings:
a. Here you can customize the footer text, copyright information and contact information.
Tracking Code Settings:
Here you can enter the Google Analytics or other tracking code. The code you specify here will be added to footer section.
a. Enter the Google Analytics Code
Once you entered all above details, click on Save changes.
*** Adding Thumbnail images on posts
Thumb image will be taken from your custom field “thumb” or it will take the first image used in your post.
If you are adding a custom field, you need to resize the image to respective size and add a custom field “thumb” with value as image url in your post.
For example:
*** Updating Plugins Options Page
* Featured Carosuel Seection Configuration
While creating a post check the feature me option as shown below:
* WP125
Ads -> Settings
a. Specify the “Ad Orientation” as Two Column.
b. Specify “Number of Ad Slots” as 6.
c. Specify “Ad Order” as Normal or Random as you wish.
Leave the rest of the settings on this Ads -> Settings as it is. And Click Save Changes.

Ads -> Add/Edit
Enter Name, Slot number, Target URL, Expiration, Click Tracking, Ad Image as required. And Click Save Changes.

Do the above steps to create 6 ad slots.
You can view the list of ad slots you have added in Ads -> Manage and you can edit from there if you wish to.

Set the options like how many photos you wish to show, cache settings like whether you need to enable cache, etc. as you wish to.

To include a different or additional language support in your Worpdress theme
please find and copy the desired language files into your specific Wordpress theme folder.

To select a different language than your current Wordpress language,
change the “define” function in the wp-config.php file, for example:

To edit translations for your language please download and install
Codestyling Localization plug-in from http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/codestyling-localization/

Like the theme very much. I’ve made a test install, and have one problem I don’t understand. The thumbnail images for the Featured Post and Popular Post section on the home page always show the image from the most recently added post. That is, I have five posts, each with a different image in the post, but same thumbnail image shows for all posts in those two sections. If I add a new post, then the image from that new post shows as the thumbnail for all previous posts, too. The correct thumbs display in the other home page sections – Recent Articles and Random Posts. The problem is only in the Featured Post section and the Popular Post section. Any ideas on how to correct this?

what version of Wordpress you are using? can you try disabling all other plugins except the ones needed for this theme and see whether it solves the problem.

Sure.
a. Please install feature me plugin. You can download the plugins from this page (link is provided in the above post) and upload it to plugins folder and activate them via wp-admin.
b. Goto Appearance > WP_010 options and mention how many featured items you would like to show under “Featured Posts Carousel Settings:”
c. While creating new post (or edit your existing post), you will see an option to make that post as featured. Check that option. (as shown below)
That’s it. now you will see that post on home page featured section

I am having the same issue with the images not displaying correctly. All the featured & popular posts show the same images. I’ve tried deactivating plugins but it still seems to be doing the same thing.
Also: The footer is not displaying the copyright info or other text.
Tag Cloud is wrong size and throwing off alignment of page. I checked the box in options to use compatibility mode.
125×125 ads are not displaying. I added the images & url’s in Ad options. What else do I need to do? When I put in the ad name, that is all that would show was the text.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for replying to me. I got the banners to work, it just took some tweaking in the wp-ads plugin. Fixed the footer by adding the text directly to the footer file. Tag cloud just needed sizing on the cumulus plugin.
However, I’m still having the same issue with the featured & popular posts showing the same image/thumbnail. I tried your suggestion of editing the get thumb, but it made no difference.
I’d like to change the color from the bright orange to a little softer color. (Wish I could figure out how to add the swirl design behind). Saved a vector to images and replaced header.jpg with it, but the swirls didn’t show because the image was bigger than the size of the header.
Is there a way to add the big social network icons that are so popular? And also, I had an RSS and an email subscription sign up before using this theme. How do I add the email box to this?
This theme is super fast & love all the features, just want something a little more feminine & social media friendly. Thanks for all your help!

Hi, This is a fantastic Theme! I’ve been looking for a theme that will suit my blog and this does perfectly.
With the Ad’s section in the options screen do I need to create the actual ads with Adsense or do I only need to add my Pub code?
Also something strange happens with the righthand sidebar…
It seems to start in theme and then appear after the footer is there anyway to stop this and compact the sidebar into the normal area?

Sorry one last thing….
On my homepage there are images that display but under the image there is a code that reads something like caption=id allign=left and so on.
What is this and how do I remove this code? Is this something to do with thumbnails I am not sure how to configure this option.. I read the help documentation and it says something about making an image respective size 125×125 and then adding them to custom field and then linking to my post url, does this mean the images in my post can only be 125×125 or do I need to create a smaller image and host it on photobucket and put that image url in there?

I am trying to configure the featured post section, have two posts up there but the image from the first post is showing on the second.
I only have the themes Required plugins Activated in my set up please can you help.

Great template, I just try it now.
I have two problems with it :
- Wrong tumbails for Popular Posts
- Footer TAG CLOUD that didn’t work.
In addition, Featured Posts won’t take the picture inside the post, but everytime the first one that’s seen inside the homepage. I have to link the thumb custom field manually with the picture URL from that post in order to get it working inside “Featured Posts” feature.

One final thing if I may? If you look at my footer on http://theisleofavalon.com all the text in there is all over the place is there any way that you can get it to align to centre.
I don’t want to edit the text (the designer) just tidy it up a bit get everything aligned.

Found the issue, I have Wp-Super Cache running on my blog and once I cleared the cache the footer text was aligned to centre by using the footer.php and adding <div align=”center” this completley rectified the problem.
I also added the command through the wp010 options page footer box not sure which method made the text alignment centre but either way for me this worked!
Am really happy with this theme, it has taken months to find one to suit my needs and WP010 has everything I want and needed.
The last 2 things I need to do to personalize this theme completley is to add my own header image and then add Adsense for search to the existing search box on the theme

Once you found, under that line you will see the url used for showing the default image replace it with your own image as you wish.

Hi Merlin, Sorry for posting the same question twice on here, I’ve found my header.php and found the “Search Form” I am guessing the Page title tab settings is somewhere near the searh form?
I am not very Experienced in code so am not sure what to change, Please could you point me to the right bit of code to alter, I am assuming that deleting the Search form will leave a big gap on theme, but how to extend the page Title Navigation tags over that that space I don’t know how to do.
I can post my Header .php as it is if thats any help.

Could you please tell me how to get the orange page tabs that are in the header area to go full width of the theme removing the search box? The page tabs work fine for the first 3 but the closer they get to the search box area they disappear is there a setting or some code I can implement to sort this issue??

Hi there,
I love this theme, it fits exactly what I’m looking for but I don’t know how to fix a few things.
1. Under the “Recent Articles” I am getting an image and title, but no additional text. Clicking the image or title goes to the correct post and everything looks ok there. How do I fix that?
2. In the “Featured Post Carousel” section, I am only getting the default W image. How do I get the correct image to display.
If I want to not have any image at all, what code do I need to adjust or delete?
3. In the side bar for “Popular Posts” the same image appears for all the posts. It seems to be the last image clicked on any post.

1. Please install all required plugins as per the instructions specified.
2. You must have an image in your post if not it will show the default image which is wp image (you can change that by editing the url in functions.php; just find http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb168/BOptiz/wp.png and replace it with your own image)

Please read the installation guide. Have you set the featured option to any posts ? install all required plugins as mentioned in the installation guide. If you already installed the featureme plugin … you need to set feature it option for your featured posts.

Hi,
I edited the thumb code that you suggested but it did not fix the problem. Any other suggestions? I have all the plugins installed. I disabled others one by one to check them too.
I have noticed that on the thumbs in question, when you hover on the image it says “permanent link to” the image name. Does that help any?

Hi Merlin,
So I had everything working, and now when I checked the site the footer is 3/4 of the screen high. I opened footer.php in the editor and there was a ton of code there that didn’t look to me like it had any structure at all. I replaced the code to original but the footer is still way high. Hi Merlin,
Sorry to bug you again…but, I need a little help if you can. I changed my rss icon to a 128×128 image (which took me forever to figure out, but looks great) and added an AWeber form to the top of my sidebar. But when I changed to the larger icon it rearranged all the 125×125 ads so they are not aligned in 2 rows anymore. Any idea how to fix that?
also, I really want to add the larger “Follow Me” social icons, but when I added the Twitter script to the sidebar, it made everything below it align to the right. I’m at my wits end…I am not a techie person & each task takes me hours! Any help is appreciated.

I have a problem with the footer on my site, When I scroll down I cant see the footer text at all!
Although I spoke to a friend and they can see it fine. Why does it not show up at my side? I have tried clearing the Cache and also WP Super Cache settings and for me nothing brings the text back.
Can you see my footer? If so is there something I am missing that stops me from seeing it?

Hello! The theme is fine, but had problems when I enable the plugin “Related Post”. The same works “almost” perfect putting different post at the end .. but “all” with the image of the first post!. This is the problem is found with carousel
its grabbing image from the latest post in wrote (even if it is not picked to be featured) and its displaying same image on all featured posts
i chose to display 3 featured posts, the links and text are okay but its grabbing only 1 image from last post made and displaying same for all other 3 featured posts.
Also footer is only showing links of yours, not my copyright text

i tested it on IE 6 and four columns dont load side by side below carousel.
They load one below the other and 2nd column space is left out unused.
I went back to old version when you checked.
Now i loaded new 1.3 version and checked it. Its okay on IE 7, 8, FF but on IE 6 and 5.5 it has alignment problem

Hi, I see some of the issues I’m having seems to be fixed with the latest version 1.4.
1. Same images appearing on featured and popular posts on carousel and sidebars.
2. Coding for [caption id image] showing in excerpt of featured category posts and carousel excerpts.
Which files should I overwrite and keep when uploading the new version? I don’t want to lose any of the customized settings i’ve made. Which files should I avoid overwriting when uploading so that I don’t lose these settings?
By the way, this is a great theme and I appreciate all the help. More people should read these comments before asking the same question. Thanks!

There are huge changes comparing with old version to fix IE issues. cannot be simply replace few files.
The image problem can be solved by replacing the new version of the following functions:
a. get_thumb
b. catch_that_image
both are available in functions.php

Upgraded to the latest version, and the issue with the thumbnails has been resolved. the only thing that still seems to be giving me a problem is the image caption codes are still showing up in some of the excerpts. (www.survivingtherecession.net). Please help when you get a chance. Thanks!

There are two ways to use images in your post. one is using thumb custom field. add a custom field thumb and the value must be full path like http://blogging4freedom.com/images/kurus-cuka-jintan-madu.jpg
if you use thumb custom field the image will not be shown in inner post. it will be used to show the thumbnails (on featured post or recent posts section, etc.)
or while creating/editing post, upload the image using “Add an image” option .. the code will automatically get the first image form the post.
your featured posts section have wrong image url which is http://blogging4freedom.com/wp-content/themes/wp_010/images/kurus-cuka-jintan-madu.jpg
Make sure you use the full image url or upload the image.

I’ve tried activating/deactivating Feedburner Feedsmith plugin, pinging Google to validate the feed (says it’s working) and entering every possible feed URL into the WP_010 Feed Settings option. Every time I click on the RSS button I keep getting “You must provide a feed uri Error 400″ message. Is there something I can tweak in the Theme?

I will install WP_010 but must translate it to Finnish. WP is already made for Finnish language with .mo file. But the theme is not and
there is my first problem: You editing translations advices to use Codestyling-Localization. Do it work in this case because there is no Finnish plug-in in it? How can I now translate this theme?

Is there any way to replace “recent posts” with “popular posts”? Seems redundant to have recent posts just below the categories which are already showing recent posts. Thanks :)

Hi. This is a fantastic theme. I’ve modified the look slightly and there is only one thing I can not get straightened out. The gravatar in the “recent comments” section always shows the default gravatar.
This is the coding in functions.php for it:
//gravatar code for comment_author_email) . “&default=” . urlencode($default) . “&size=40″;
is this correct?

First of all, read the license terms. Whether you are customizing or not, you need to retain the footer links AS IS. Or you need to pay footer removal fee which is $25.

I would like to use the Sponsor widget but don’t know how to edit it. I’ve looked in the plugins tab, but I’m not sure which plugin I need to add to the site in order to integrate the Sponsors feature.
Also, under my recent articles section, there is no text from the posts displaying with the image and title. Your demo shows text from blog posts next to the recent articles. How do I activate this feature?

I am having a major problem, I uploaded your newest version of this theme, but when I try to upload the plugins, I get the following messages:
WP_010_Plugins zip: It uploads fine, but when I try to activate it, I get this message: The plugin does not have a valid header.
Then when I try to upload the Recommended Plugins.zip, I get this message:
The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/sugarton/public_html//wp-content/uploads/2009/12.
What does that mean and how can I fix this?

Love the template. But I the exerpts are not working on the recent posts. I would like to either remove the recent post section or fix it to have the post exerpt and less recent posts. Please help me.

at first thanks for giving this nice template for free.
i m using the latest version of this theme 1.6. every thing is OK but when i go to a specific post page i found found some blank space at top. for example you can see the following link.
blogging.talk4fun.net/2009/12/skype-for-symbian-beta-available-for-download/
the ads under the title of the post is also not working.

try disabling all plugins which are not used by this theme and see whether the problem gets resolved. if so, then find out which plugin causes the problem.

hi,your theme is outstanding. i’ve installed it and fixed almost all the issues. but a weird problem is arising. in the recent post area, only the image and title is showing, there is no description :-S
